Patch testing identifies allergic contact dermatitis — a delayed allergic reaction to substances that touch your skin. Allergen patches are applied to your upper back on Tuesday, worn for 48 hours, then removed and read on Thursday and read a final time on Friday. This is not the same as allergy scratch or prick testing, and antihistamines do not interfere with results.
Patches applied and mapped (30-45 min)
Patches removed, first reading
Delayed reading, final results
Many true allergic reactions appear only at the Friday reading. Missing the final visit can invalidate the entire test.

Targeted therapy to clear your existing dermatitis
Positive test sites may stay mildly itchy or discolored for 1-2 weeks after testing. This is expected and fades on its own.
